'Ted' Edmund Henry Arnsby (2)

Many, thanks to Wiese and Krohn for this picture of Edmund.

In 1921 Edmund Arnsby, a British manager employed by Dankert Krohn, acquired interests in the business Wiese & Krohn (wine and port makers). Edmund looked for partners and brought Edmundo Falcão Carneiro, a Portuguese export manager who had been working for the firm since 1910 in as a partner. Edmund also brought his brother Frederick in as a partner; Frederick was an experienced Port taster who worked for the House of Croft.

Edmund Arnsby died in 1933 and his brother Frederick retired four years later. Edmundo Falcão Carneiro acquired their shares and thus gave origin to an entirely Portuguese owned Port Company still going under the name of its two Norwegian founder, Wiese and Krohn.
